Crozer Health cancer patients can expect treatment for both body, mind and spirit. We treat your medical condition, but we also understand your needs for emotional balance, physical comfort and quality of life.

Our Cancer Centers offer many programs designed to enhance the lives of patients during treatment and rehabilitation.

In addition, we offer many integrative medicine treatments that help cancer patients copes with their symptoms and live the best life they can during cancer treatment.

Cancer Support Groups

When you’re facing cancer, it’s often helpful to speak with someone who’s gone through the same situation. That’s why Crozer Healthoffers a variety of cancer support groups for those who are fighting cancer or helping a loved one through a difficult diagnosis.

Our cancer support groups include:

Breast Cancer Support Group

This support group is open to breast cancer patients in all phases of treatment and is held the second Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m.

Gentle Yoga for Cancer Patients and Caregivers

Gentle Yoga, held weekly, is for cancer patients and their caregivers. Classes are low-impact and include meditation, stretches and seated movements.

Talk Out Loud

This free group session is open to women who have been diagnosed with any type of cancer. Family members and friends are also welcome to attend.

Home Health

Crozer Health's Home Health Services provide care in the comfort of patients' homes. These patients may be newly discharged from the hospital, referred directly by physicians' offices.

Crozer Healthoffers home care services through our office at Drexeline Shopping Center.

Our services include:

  • Skilled nursing care
  • Home health aides
  • Rehabilitative therapies
  • Medical social services

  • Pain management
  • Certified wound specialist
  • Enterostomal therapy (comprehensive wound care, as well as assistance with ostomies and incontinence)

Nutritional Counseling

Nutritional status can affect a person’s ability to deal with aggressive cancer treatments including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Crozer Healthoffers programs to evaluate the nutritional status of hospitalized cancer patients and making recommendations based on an individual’s needs. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy staff can also offer nutritional recommendations to their patients.

In addition, nutritional counseling is available to outpatients through fee-for-service consultation. A registered dietitian can help to assess individual nutritional needs and develop strategies for meeting those needs.

Positively You Personal Appearance Enhancement

Cancer and its treatment have the potential to affect both physical appearance and self-esteem. That’s why we established the Positively You program to assist patients dealing with changes in body image during and after treatment.

In this program, specialists meet with patients privately to assist with such issues as:

  • Breast forms
  • Wigs and hairpieces
  • Skin care and makeup
  • Scalp care
  • Scarves and turbans
  • Hats and special clothing

A supportive and caring environment is provided for private consultations, which are scheduled by appointment. Some services offered by Positively You are covered by insurance. When necessary, services are provided free of charge.

Social Work

People diagnosed with cancer and their families often need extra support. Patients at the Crozer Healthhospitals have access to the expertise of a medical social worker to assist with a wide variety of problems that can accompany a cancer diagnosis. Social workers can help with such issues as counseling, financial concerns and health insurance questions.

In addition to counseling, social workers have extensive knowledge about resources in the community and can assist with medications, prosthesis, transportation, homemaker services, nursing homes, support groups and legal and financial concerns.

Hospice

Crozer Health’s Hospice staff offer physical, spiritual and emotional support for patients in both hospital and in-home settings. Hospice care can be provided in your home, in an assisted living or personal care home, in a nursing home or in our inpatient Hospice Residence located at Taylor Hospital.

Hospice is care and support for terminally ill people and their loved ones. The Hospice philosophy encourages the continuation of a meaningful life in the presence of a life-limiting illness. Hospice neither prolongs life nor hastens death; hospice staff assists in minimizing pain, offering comfort and helping patients maintain their dignity.
