Crozer-Chester Medical Center Offers Patients the Latest Surgical Technology
The da Vinci Xi provides the most precise surgery and with the least recovery time.
Crozer Health is proud to offer the latest robotic surgical technology at two Delaware County locations. Surgeons at Crozer-Chester Medical Center join the Delaware County Memorial Hospital location in offering the most advanced robotic-assisted technology, the da Vinci Xi, to patients needing surgical care. The addition of the new da Vinci Xi Surgical System provides additional options for surgeons in completing the complex surgeries performed at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. This expands the number of patients who can benefit from the advantages of robotic surgery – smaller incisions, less blood loss during surgery, fewer complications, and shorter recovery periods.
As with all robotic surgical systems, the surgeon is 100 percent in control of the robotic-assisted da Vinci System, which translates their hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside the patient’s body. The Xi System’s immersive 3D-HD vision system provides surgeons a highly magnified view, virtually extending their eyes and hands into the patient.

The Xi System provides surgeons with the following key advantages:
- A new overhead instrument arm architecture designed to facilitate anatomical access from virtually any position
- A new endoscope digital architecture that creates a simpler, more compact design with improved vision definition and clarity
- An ability to attach the endoscope to any arm, providing flexibility for visualizing the surgical site
- Smaller, thinner arms with newly designed joints that offer a greater range of motion
- Longer instrument shafts designed to give surgeons greater operative reach
The da Vinci Xi System is the newest platform of robotic instruments, designed to further advance the technology used in minimally invasive surgery. Crozer-Chester Medical Center surgeons will use the new system across a spectrum of minimally invasive procedures, and it has been optimized for gynecological, colorectal, urologic, thoracic, cardiac, bariatric, and general surgeries. Specifically, surgeons can offer robotic-assisted hernia repair, complex abdominal wall reconstruction, anti-reflux surgery, gallbladder surgery, surgery of the small and large intestine, weight-loss surgery, prostate surgery, kidney surgery, and surgery of the ovaries and uterus.
