Neurosurgery

Experienced Care, Advanced Techniques

Crozer Health’s highly-skilled, board-certified neurosurgeons perform intricate surgery of the brain and spine, and evaluate and treat tumors and processes that modify the function or activity of the nervous system. They use the latest, minimally invasive surgical technologies – including  neuronavigation – as well as cervical spine fusion and kyphoplasty to minimize the impact on patients. They also perform operative procedures to help patients manage pain.

Advanced, Minimally Invasive Procedures

When neurological surgery is the recommended treatment for a brain, spine or nervous system condition, you want experienced, board-certified surgeons who are also a part of a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals. You also want a reputable neurosurgery team that uses the most advanced, minimally-invasive procedures and techniques. With Crozer Health's neurosurgeons, you get all of this and more.

Our neurosurgeons use the latest, minimally invasive surgical technologies and techniques to treat conditions of the spine, the brain and the nervous system. These conditions commonly include herniated discs, spinal stenosis, myelopathy, spondylosysis, carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve problems, hydrocephalus, Chiari malformation, trigeminal neuralgia and many others.

Among the more advanced, minimally invasive procedures our neurosurgeons perform is to treat pituitary tumors. During the minimally invasive procedure known as Endoscopic Endonasal Transsphenoidal surgery, the neurosurgeon uses computer guidance and endoscopic vision to remove the pituitary tumor without disruption of normal sinus and septal structures. Patients may go home as early as the next day. The traditional surgical procedure uses a skin incision under the lip and removal of a large portion of the nasal septum so that the surgeon can see the area using a microscope. This procedure would require a five to six-day hospital day.

Crozer Health offers comprehensive neuro-oncology services with a collaboration with Philadelphia CyberKnife® in Havertown, PA. Our neurosurgeons collaborate with a range of other specialists, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologist, neurologists, radiologists, psychologists and more to diagnose and care for patients with tumors of the brain and spine.

A Multidisciplinary Team

Crozer Health neurosurgeons are part of a multidisciplinary team of  top-notch medical professionals, including oncologists, neurologists, radiation therapists, otolaryngologists (ear, nose and throat specialists), psychologists and rehabilitation professionals to help you heal.
