Pediatric Services

At Crozer Health, we know that children have a unique set of healthcare needs. That's why we offer a comprehensive array of services designed specifically for the care of newborns, children, adolescents and young adults.

The health system provides services and programs to meet the medical and social needs of nearly 50,000 patients in Delaware County every year.

Our Pediatric Team

Our pediatric team is highly experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of childhood and adolescent acute illnesses, chronic conditions, and medical emergencies. We work closely with families and referring physicians to provide effective care for our patients, and we’re dedicated to improving children’s health through high-quality, coordinated programs of patient care, education, community outreach, and child advocacy.

Crozer is proud to be an affiliate of Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children, a world-renowned, full-service pediatric care center.

Through a unique arrangement with Crozer, specialists from the departments of Gastroenterology, Neurology and Cardiology at A.I. duPont consult with the Department of Pediatrics to help care for children admitted to Crozer. Physicians from these three pediatric subspecialties also see outpatients at Healthplex Pavilion II in Springfield.

Emergency Care

Crozer-Chester Medical Center treats more than 10,000 pediatric emergency patients each year, more than any other hospital in the county. That’s why Crozer is proud to offer board-certified pediatricians caring for patients in the emergency department (ED) every day between noon and midnight.

In addition to pediatricians, Crozer’s ED offers dedicated pediatric treatment rooms. The facility also has a special pediatric waiting room, complete with toys and games, that is located separately from the general waiting room and the main ED patient care area.

Neonatology

The Division of Neonatology offers comprehensive neonatal diagnostic and treatment facilities for critically ill newborns. As the only Level IIIa Intensive Care Nursery serving Delaware County, Crozer's board-certified neonatologists provide leading-edge treatment for 350 newborns annually. The Intensive Care Nursery can meet the needs of very small babies, as well as larger, more mature newborn infants.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services

Crozer's Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) provides a range of services for pediatric inpatients from infancy through the teenage years. Among the available services are physical therapy, speech therapy, audiology (hearing) testing, dysphagia therapy, and video swallowing studies.

Pulmonary Services

We provide pediatric pulmonary services for children with tracheostomies, who require continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) or home ventilators and those struggling with breathing problems, including asthma, chronic cough, pneumonia and noisy breathing.

Sleep Services

Does your child snore or have trouble falling asleep at night? Are teachers or caregivers mentioning that your child is excessively tired or overly excitable during the day? If so, it could be more than just typical kid behavior – your child could be suffering from a chronic or severe sleep disorder.

Crozer Health Sleep Centers offer comprehensive care for children’s sleep issues.

Surgical Services

Crozer Health's skilled surgeons provide comprehensive care, ranging from general procedures such as appendectomies, hernia surgeries, and gall bladder surgeries to burn scar revisions and plastic surgeries.

Our otolaryngology doctors provide specialized care for children struggling with ear, nose and throat disorders. Pediatric surgeries, including tonsillectomies, adenoidectomies and myringotomies, are available for children as young as eight years old. Pediatric anesthesiologists, who specialize in anesthesia for children, are always present to assist with these procedures.

If an inpatient stay is required following a surgical procedure, children are cared for in the welcoming surroundings of the Pediatrics Unit.

Trauma Care

The professionals of the Crozer Regional Trauma Center, Delaware County's only trauma center, are available around-the-clock to treat serious injuries. The trauma center is accredited by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation.
