Ashish Rana, M.D., FACP

Program Director

Dr. Ashish Rana received his medical degree from the State University of New York-Stony Brook School of Medicine in 1992. He completed his residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 1995, after which he went on to practice medicine at the University of Pennsylvania-Presbyterian Medical Center campus for two years.

Dr. Rana joined the Crozer-Chester Medical Center in 1997 and began practice with Crozer Medical Associates. He is the Program Director and the course director of Evidenced-Based Medicine and actively participates in residency and student teaching. He also serves as the site director for the fourth-year medical student sub-internship rotation in Internal Medicine at Crozer. In April 2000, he was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He was nominated for the Golden Apple Teaching Award by the students of the graduating class of 2000 at Allegheny University Medical School (now Drexel University College of Medicine. In October 2012, Dr. Rana was also appointed Professor of Medicine at Temple University and Drexel University College of Medicine.

Dr. Rana also likes to be involved in quality and improvement, scholarly activities, and perfecting the oral Presentation skills of physicians.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Rana enjoys spending time with family, adventure travel, long bike rides, exercising, watching silly TV shows, and spending time with his friends.


Rahul Patel, D.O.Rahul Patel, D.O.

Associate Program Director

Dr. Rahul Patel graduated with this medical degree from the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2017. After completing his residency training at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in 2020, he joins Crozer Medical Associate practice and takes up a role as an associate program director.

Dr. Patel enjoys taking care of patients' primary care needs with a specific focus on self-awareness. He wants to empower his patients with the knowledge to help them start taking a more in-depth interest in their health. The other focus of his professional life is education. As an associate program director of the internal medicine residency program, He educates physicians in training at various levels. He enjoys conducting lectures for residents and also likes to be involved in research activities.

Dr. Patel likes to visit various national parks in his off days. He also enjoys photography, cooking Indian food, and hosting family get-togethers.

C. Nathan Okechukwu, M.D., FASN, FRCS

Chairman, Department of Medicine

Dr. Nathan Okechukwu is a board-certified physician specializing in Nephrology. Dr. Okechukwu received his medical degree from the University of Nigeria. He completed his residency at the University of Connecticut and his Nephrology fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Scotland, and is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

Dr. Okechukwu is committed to providing high-quality care for patients with hypertension and kidney disease, emphasizing prevention, and treatment.

In his spare time, Dr. Okechukwu enjoys writing novels, poetry, golf, chess, and playing the guitar.

Courtney Fay, D.O.

Medical Director, Crozer Medical Associates

Courtney Fay, D.O., received her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Dr. Fay is passionate about engaging her patients in preventive care. She inspires her patients to reach optimal health by promoting healthy lifestyle choices. Dr. Fay also carries a particular interest in treating diabetes. Aside from her duties as a medical director, she also contributes to residents’ education as a core faculty. She is also a professor of medicine at Temple University School of Medicine.

Dr. Fay enjoys spending time with her children and her husband while not working.

 

Karen Avgush, M.D.Karen Avgush, M.D.

Hospital Medicine, Internal Medicine

Dr. Karen Avgush graduated with her medical degree from Saint James School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at WellSpan York Hospital. After residency, Dr. Avgush joined a traditional internal medicine practice in New York providing both inpatient and outpatient care to her private patients. Following this endeavor, Dr. Avgush joined Crozer Health as an academic hospitalist. She is currently a core faculty member of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, the Inpatient Medicine Clerkship Site Co-Director, and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at both Temple University and Drexel University College of Medicine. 

She is passionate about resident education, point of care ultrasound, hospital medicine, and global health. 

Outside of the practice of medicine, Dr. Avgush enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and hiking.

Alan Zweben, M.D.

Internal Medicine, Primary Care

Dr. Alan Zweben received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. Dr. Zweben is certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a core faculty for Internal Medicine residency. Dr. Zweben loves engaging in Internal Medicine residents’ education.

Dr. Zweben was voted Top Doctor in Philadelphia Magazine in 2009, 2010, 2012-2019, and in Main Line Today in 2009, 2011, 2013-2019.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Zweben loves playing golf and gardening.

 

Rachel Odeyemi, D.O.Rachel Odeyemi, D.O.

Hospital Medicine, Internal Medicine

Dr. Rachel Odeyemi is a graduate of Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. After graduating from medical school, She continued her journey at Rowan to complete her Internal Medicine residency.  After that, Dr. Odeyemi joined Crozer Health as a hospitalist. She is currently a core faculty for Internal Medicine residents with a specific focus on hospital medicine.

Dr. Odeyemi enjoys cooking when not in the hospital.
